Part of my job in Systems is to help my co-workers translate complicated ideas in to easy-to-grasp chunks they can share with other groups.
I decided on a Fisher Price-style method of diagramming. These are meant to be internal to ITS at WVU. I worked out a very simple iconography/style that shows what needs to be shown, without extras. These are tailored to the intended audience.
In addition to teaching classes ranging from Dreamweaver, Office (with an emphasis on Word and PowerPoint for graduate students), eCampus, anti-plagiarism software, emerging technologies, and special request topics, I taught a series of workshops on Photoshop and effective presentations.

During my time as a technical trainer and upper-level application support professional, I created and taught a variety of workshops for faculty, staff, and students at WVU.
Because of popular demand, I worked with a co-worker to re-vamp the web design courses offered through our group. I created a new introduction to Dreamweaver, with an emphasis on history, design theory, University requirements, and accessibility.
As an example of my academic writing, I submit this for review. My document ended up a blend between a thesis and a project paper- neither purely one or the other.
My graduate work was in photo documentary and diplomacy/conflict resolution. It took up a good portion of time over the years, and I’m glad I had the thoughtful guidance of the people on my committee.
